Below are images of some of the native timbers that are normally available for
recorder stands. Note that the colour and grain pattern of natural timbers can
vary considerably and these images should be taken as a guide only.
Some local timbers can exhibit "spalting". This is caused by a fungus that
leaves dark streaks in the wood. While this can be a weakness in the timber for
some applications, it can be rather attractive in decorative pieces.
